Tidy chrome-bumper B just recommissioned after 12 years in storage
including new clutch and stainless steel exhaust; new MOT; ready to be
enjoyed
Supplied new by Stewart & Ardern Ltd of
Barnes in August 1973, this appealing chrome-bumper MGB Roadster is finished in
Old English White with black vinyl hood and wire wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the typical 1.8 litre B-Series
four-cylinder engine mated to four-speed manual overdrive transmission driving
the rear wheels. Inside, we find a smart vinyl interior
and blue carpets which all look to be in good order.
The vendor (a retired motor engineer) tells us he has recommissioned
the car after a 12-year lay-up which included fresh fluids and oils,
replacement brake hoses and cables plus removing the engine to change the
clutch.
He tells us the slave cylinder, rear
wheel cylinders and brake calipers have also been renewed along with fitment of
a new electronic fuel pump and complete stainless steel exhaust system. The car
was Ziebart treated from new and we are told that it drives well with good
oil pressure.
The history file includes the
original Passport to Service with two stamps in 1979 at 44,965 miles and in 1980
at 50,020 miles, notes from the vendor, current MOT valid until April 2025
recording no advisories (also showing the last MOT was in 2012 at 74,873
miles, the odometer now showing 74,900 miles).
There are also 13 old MOTs and a selection of bills for works
undertaken during the mid to late '90s. The V5C is en route to us and
should be with us in time for the sale.
Ready to
be enjoyed, this example looks well and benefits from some useful recent work
along with a clean MOT.
